March 1, 2007 – Winston-Salem, NC – The law firm of Blanco Tackabery Combs & Matamoros, P.A., is pleased to announce that Lisa G. Cornatzer, Deborah P. Cornatzer, Brenda S. Bowden and Melissa B. Myers have qualified as North Carolina Certified Paralegals.

Peter J. Juran, Chair of the firm's Executive Committee stated, "We are proud of this achievement by our staff members, and pleased to offer the knowledge and value their training and certification provides to our clients. In our fast-paced and competitive profession, having skilled paralegals enables us to more efficiently and promptly serve our clients' needs."

The North Carolina State Bar's voluntary paralegal certification program is designed to enhance the quality of legal services that paralegals can provide to attorneys and indirectly to their clients.  The certification does not expand the duties of paralegals and does not allow them to practice law.  Certified paralegals are required to attend at least six hours of continuing paralegal/legal education annually.

Lisa, who has been with the firm since 1996, works as a paralegal in the Transactional and Commercial Real Estate areas. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Catawba College and is a member of the North Carolina Paralegal Association.

Debbie, who has been with the firm since 1994, works as a paralegal in the firm's Business and Intellectual Property Law areas, assisting attorneys Brian L. Herndon and Mary Margaret Ogburn.  Debbie received her B.A. from Salem College and is an adjunct instructor in the Paralegal Technology Department at Forsyth Technical Community College.

Brenda, who has been with the firm since 1988, has worked as a paralegal in the Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Collections Group since 1996, and assists attorneys Gene B. Tarr, Ashley S. Rusher, and Jeanette M. Stark.  Brenda received her A.A.S., with honors, from Davidson County Community College, and is a member of the North Carolina State Bar's Legal Assistants Division.

Melissa, who has been with the firm since 2004, works as a paralegal in the firm's Litigation Group, assisting attorneys Charles D. Luckey and C. Shawn Christenbury.
