May 2, 2007 – Winston-Salem, NC – The law firm of Blanco Tackabery Combs & Matamoros, P.A. is pleased to announce that shareholder Reginald F. Combs, head of the firm's litigation practice group, has been appointed as the North Carolina Bar Association's representative to the Chief Justice's NC Equal Access to Justice Commission. The Commission was created by order of the North Carolina Supreme Court to address the legal needs of indigent persons and others of modest means, helping them gain access to the civil justice system principally through educational initiatives and resource development.
Reg received his B.A., magna cum laude, and his J.D. from Wake Forest University. He has over 25 years of experience in civil trial work of various types, from the most complex antitrust and intellectual property matters to simpler contract and tort claims. The majority of Reg's practice is concentrated in the area of corporate and commercial disputes. He has an extensive practice at all levels of state and federal courts, as well as administrative boards, arbitration panels and other dispute resolution agencies. In addition, Reg is a certified Mediator, serving both the North Carolina state courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Reg is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association (Strategic Planning and Emerging Trends Committee, 2004-2006), the Forsyth County Bar Association (President, 1998-1999), the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the American Association for Justice. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Wake Forest University School of Law and a member of that law school's Board of Visitors. He has also served as President of the Parents Board of Salem Academy and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Forsyth Country Day School.
