As an attorney working in the area of business transactions with Blanco Tackabery since May of 1994, Mo has had experience in helping clients structure for-profit and non-profit corporations, limited liability companies and other entities, purchase and sell businesses, acquire and finance commercial real estate, apply for federal and state tax exemptions for non-profit corporations, and draft and negotiate numerous types of business agreements. Mo has lectured university students as well as business owners on business and intellectual property issues.  Her practice now focuses, in particular, on intellectual property law, including the areas of trademark registration, copyright protection, computer systems development and e-commerce.  Representative transactions include:

  • Advised numerous clients in the aspects of trademark registration, cleared marks and prosecuted registration of marks with the US Patent and Trademark Office;
  • Represented multiple franchisees in the start-up of franchised businesses;
  • Represented the remaining shareholder in an insurance agency in the financing of the redemption of the stock of the retiring shareholder;
  • Structured and documented a joint venture among four large local health care providers including the licensing of proprietary property and trademarks;
  • Represented the sellers of a manufacturing and distribution business in the sale of its assets including patents, trademarks and other intellectual property;
  • Negotiated numerous software license agreements for several financial institutions; and
  • Advised clients on Internet web site copyright issues and drafted click wrap agreements.  

Prior to attending law school and joining Blanco Tackabery, Mo worked for over fifteen years in the information technology industry, beginning her career as a programmer and concluding it as the information systems director for a regional retailer where she directed the development of systems for inventory management and distribution, supervising a staff of 20 programmers, analysts and user support personnel. As a member of the company's executive committee, she also drafted the company's strategic business plans.  

Mo was born and grew up in Winston-Salem, but has lived in Durham, North Carolina; Richmond, Virginia; and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is a member of the Business (Business Law Section Council, 2008-2011), Real Estate, Intellectual Property, and Sports and Entertainment Law Sections of the North Carolina Bar Association.  She is a current member and past program committee chairman of Professional Women of Winston-Salem, a past member of the Future Forum for Duke University School of Law, an active member of Augsburg Lutheran Church, having served in a variety of capacities, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Winston-Salem Downtown Church Center, a Charter member of the Winston-Salem Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, and a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina State University Physical Sciences and Mathematics Foundation.  Mo authored the article, "Savvy Business Names," published in The Missing Piece, a newsletter of the marketing firm MediaFit, Inc.
