David co-founded the law firm in 1973 and has served as the lead administrative partner, the managing partner, Chairman of the Executive Committee, and in his present capacity as President, member of the Board of Directors, and shareholder. David has accumulated an extensive array of legal experience, including the legal disciplines of commercial real estate and finance, civil litigation, wills, trusts and estates, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law. He presently focuses his practice in the areas of corporate law and governance and wills, trusts and estates.

David is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the North Carolina Bar Association (Business Law and Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Sections). He is also a member of the Winston-Salem Estate Planning Council. David currently serves as Chairman of the Winston-Salem Board of Branch Banking and Trust Company and as Secretary of the Old Town Club. He serves on the Board of Advisors of the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Business Demon Incubator, a component of the Business Development Initiative of the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Business, which supports, educates and promotes the local business community and its entrepreneurs.

David helped establish the Family Business program at the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Business. Blanco Tackabery was a founding sponsor of the Family Business program, which supports, educates and promotes family businesses in this area of the country.

David is a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in downtown Winston-Salem, where he serves on the Board of Trustees. He was founding Board Chairman of the Brenner Children's Hospital and served on that Board for 15 years. He is a past Board member and President of the Stratford Rotary Club, Trustee of the Summit School and served on the Alumni Council at Duke University. He served as Board and Executive Committee member of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and as a Board member of Winston-Salem Business, Inc. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Forsyth County Bar Association and on the Board of the Real Property Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association.
